Clinical Supervisor

Reports To: Clinical Director
Supervises: Clinical Counselors, Licensed Social Workers, Group Facilitators, Case Managers (as assigned), Interns, and QMHS/CDCA staff
Assists: Clinical Director, Medical Team, Operations, and Compliance


POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision, coaching, and clinical oversight of assigned treating staff. This role ensures high-quality clinical services, adherence to OhioMHAS/Medicaid requirements, timely documentation, and implementation of Attain Behavioral Health’s’ program standards.

The Clinical Supervisor supports day-to-day clinical operations, provides weekly supervision, assists with staff development and clinical schedule, monitors compliance, and collaborates closely with the Clinical Director to maintain program fidelity, client safety, and regulatory compliance.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB DUTIES

Clinical Oversight & Staff Supervision

  • Provide weekly individual and/or group supervision to assigned staff, interns, and non-licensed clinicians.
  • Ensure all supervisees practice strictly within their scope and redirect when needed.
  • Review and sign off on documentation for supervisees as required by licensure.
  • Support clinical staff with case conceptualization, treatment planning, diagnostic formulation, and LOC decision-making.
  • Participate in and help facilitate treatment team meetings.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to support employee development.
  • Participate in 90-day and annual performance reviews and provide input on staff progression, competency, and retention.

Program Support & Day-to-Day Operations

  • Support the Clinical Director in managing program schedules, group curriculums, and workflow needs.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing skill development for therapists, case managers, and group facilitators.
  • Ensure therapeutic groups follow approved curriculum and maintain clinical appropriateness.
  • Step in to provide individual or group services as needed to support continuity of care.

Compliance, QA, and Documentation

  • Conduct routine documentation audits for assigned staff and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Monitor adherence to Attain’s policy and procedure, including timeliness, accuracy, and medical necessity requirements.
  • Assist in gathering data for weekly, monthly, and quarterly QA metrics.
  • Help review incident reports and participate in follow-up or investigation as assigned by the Clinical Director.
  • Maintain knowledge of OhioMHAS, ODM, and Joint Commission standards as relevant.

Client Care & Crisis Response

  • Support staff in managing clinical crises, performing safety assessments, and implementing crisis response protocols.
  • Coordinate care with internal departments, medical staff, and external agencies as appropriate.
  • Consult with the Clinical Director regarding high-risk cases, escalated concerns, or complex clinical presentations.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate concerns, trends, and staff needs to the Clinical Director promptly.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with QA, Compliance, Operations, and Medical departments.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, trainings, and program development discussions.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Maintain consistent attendance and meet deadlines.
  • Represent Attain professionally with staff, community partners, and regulatory entities.
  • Uphold Attain’s mission, vision, and guiding principles at all times.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Same requirements apply as listed in the Director JD
Includes: sitting/standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, use of computer systems, ability to intervene in crisis, ability to observe client behavior, tolerate fast-paced environment, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field.
  • Active Ohio licensure: LPC/LCSW/MSW/LPCC/LISW with Supervisory designation (-S) required.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in behavioral health, substance use, or related setting.
  • Experience providing supervision or leadership preferred.
  • Knowledge of OhioMHAS/Medicaid documentation standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong clinical writing and diagnostic skills.
