Assistant Controller
This small-sized organization that operates within the property and construction industry and is known for its commitment to excellence and precision. The team and business is growing, and the team requires a new Assistant Controller to help manage the day-to-day running of the Accounting & Finance function with the increased workload. You will report directly into the Finance Director, and work very closely with the 2 other Senior Accountants in the team, the CFO and 2 Junior Project Accountants.
The successful Assistant Controller will :
- Support the Finance Director with the supervision of the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely reporting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and policies to improve financial operations.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and variance reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Supervise and mentor staff accountants, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax filings.
- Support the Accounting & Finance department in various ad hoc projects and initiatives.

A successful Assistant Controller will have :
Approximately 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financePrior working experience in a construction businessA strong educational background in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Proven expertise in financial reporting and analysis within the construction industry.Proficiency with accounting software and advanced knowledge of Excel.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsHappy to work 3-4 days per week in the Norwell (Boston, MA) officeWhat's on offer :
