QUALIFICATIONS :
- Experience in a thrift store environment
- Willingness to work as a manager in training
- Must have people skills and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to merchandise product and to produce effective sales
- Ability to work with the public in a professional manager
- Ability to mentor and train beneficiaries
- Customer service mindset
- Team player with a spirit of cooperation and work with all others towards goals set by management
- Valid in-state driver's license, with a clean MVR
- Willingness to work in different thrift stores when needed
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Ringing up sales on the cash registerBagging purchases for the customersKeeping sales floor clean and free of debrisAssist in unloading donationsAssist customers with loading merchandiseReturn sales items to the proper place when moved by customersAssist with the pricing and displaying of items for saleAnswering customer questions or concerns with courtesyAnswering thrift store telephoneWriting up pick-up receipts and giving them to the driverResponsible for promptly reporting to immediate supervisor all accidents, personal injury, or property damageAct as personal representative of The Salvation Army, supporting its mission, treat all customers and / or donors courteouslyAssist sorters, warehouse workers and truck drivers with their duties when deemed necessary and assigned by the thrift store managerEnsure smooth running of all store operations from customer relations to stocking of new productEnsure store always looks neat and clean, free of debris and very presentableFollow all daily income handling procedures, including POS procedures, policies for counting and banking income.When acting as manager, ensure current work schedules are posted at the store and sent to administrative office.When acting as manager, ensure timecards are accurate, signed, and submitted in a timely manner.Work with staff to ensure all sales associate responsibilities are accomplished, engaging in that process alsoWork with manager to be creative in setting up promotional and sales displaysMake achieving higher sales a continual process, encouraging staff and thereby making it a team effortContinue to learn from other companies better and / or best way of marketing and making more salesEnsure all mark-down and rag-out policies are adhered to.Ensure all truck deliveries are performed with appropriate manifest, signing same when manager absentEnsure OSHA guidelines are followed.Responsible for promptly reporting to immediate supervisor all accidents, personal injury, or property damageAct as personal representative of The Salvation Army, supporting its mission, treat all customers and / or donors courteouslyHandle other duties as may be deemed necessary and assigned by the thrift store supervisor for the efficient operation of the Thrift StorePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
