Responsibilities

• Be supportive, positive and encouraging in meeting the needs of those with developmental disabilities as you assist them in working on gaining further independence.
• Encourage and foster individuals' preferred hobbies, interests and self-determined choices.
• Assist with and work to strengthen the individuals' daily living needs, including but not limited to : nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, and socialization skills
• Help individuals to bathe, groom and dress, eat and drink if necessary, always working to improve self-reliance and independence.
• Work with the individual being served to create goals, track progress and report findings to superiors.
• Encourage the individuals involvement in the local community and encourage community inclusion based on their interests and preferences.
• Develop meaningful relationships and connections with clients to make them feel cared for and included in the community.
• Follow all health and safety protocols as designated.
• Assist the individuals in maintaining a sanitary and tidy home.
• Attend continuing education courses and training as the role requires.
• Be a compassionate, patient, and encouraging support professional at all times.
