About the Job
We are looking for summer camp counselors to make our 2026 summer the best summer yet! This summer, we are hosting a summer camp program with 30 children who consist of older siblings of our preschool students, staff children, and children from the greater Memphis community. As summer camp counselors, you will help lead a fun summer of outside play, water play, group games, free play, and other enrichment activities. All counselors will be supervised by our Summer Camp Director.
The ideal Summer Camp Lead Counselor is an organized, prepared, dependable, proactive, and flexible team player who has experience working with children.
Job Duties :
- Work together as a team to guide campers between the ages of five and eleven years old throughout their camp experience.
- Create a fun learning environment.
- Assume responsibility as activity leader or assistant leader in assigned activity areas.
- Plan, set up, and clean up after activities.
- Explain camp rules, policies, and procedures to each camper as needed.
- Monitor and facilitate play while supporting young campers as they learn social skills.
- Serve as a good role model for the campers to follow in personal language, appearance, communication skills, and health habits.
- Assume responsibility for the health / welfare of the campers.
- Communicate verbally with campers and parents each day.
- Support campers actively and effectively as they learn, grow, and have fun.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings as needed.
- Maintain good communication with parents by properly greeting them and their children in the morning and afternoon.
- Handle accidents in a responsible manner.
- Meet children’s physical and emotional needs.
- Perform any other duties as instructed by the Child Care Director.
- Willing to be trained and obtain the required training.
- Help to create a calm, pleasant atmosphere.

High school diploma or equivalent.At least one year of experience with children is required.Experience in multiple roles supervising children and facilitating activities is preferred.Candidates currently enrolled in an education major program at a 4-year college are strongly preferred and encouraged to apply.Basic Requirements :
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.Must be available to work daily Monday-Friday 7 am – 6 pm, beginning May 26 and ending August 14.
