Transformational Internal Medicine Residency Program Director for Robust University of Arizona COM Program in Phoenix
We seek an academic leader to continue our transformation of medical education in the Internal Medicine Residency Program with its established reputation in educational innovation and resident-centeredness. As a core residency program, the program director will interface closely with the Combined Medicine-Pediatrics program, Preliminary PGY1 program, and 9 sub-specialty fellowship programs. This leader will support our commitment to personalized education using technological strategies that optimize resident education in a new era of medical training.
Banner Health has a long history of GME programs and the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix became the sponsoring institution in 2015 as the two organizations created a formal affiliation to combine their strengths. Our programs are nationally recognized for leadership in educational innovation clinical excellence, quality and safety, teaching and innovation. The IM residency is one of 40 ACGME accredited programs with 15 in the Department of Medicine. With over 360 current residents and fellows in our programs, we have been training residents and students for over 60 years. The IM residency is comprised of 83 residents and 7 chief residents at our flagship academic medical center, Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix, and the Phoenix VA Medical Center.
This position will have a matrix reporting relationship to the relevant components of the role - direct reporting to the Vice Chair for Education and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine within the College of Medicine - Phoenix for all academic activities, Vice Dean for Graduate Medical Education for program-related activities, and respective Division Chief for all clinical activities conducted at Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix.
