Position : Medical Records Technician

Location : JB Anacostia–Bolling

Reports To : TBD

Schedule : Monday–Friday, 0730–1630 (excluding federal holidays and facility closures)

Summary :

The Medical Records Technician manages, maintains, and safeguards inpatient and outpatient medical records to ensure accuracy, accountability, and compliance with DoD and healthcare standards. This role supports medical staff and patient care through timely and organized record handling.

Qualifications :

High school diploma / GED

BLS certification (AHA / Red Cross)

Minimum 1 year of experience or RHIT / RHIA certification

Typing speed : 40+ WPM

Knowledge of medical terminology, JCAHO standards, and military filing systems

Proficient with AHLTA, CHCS, MHS GENESIS, JLV, DEERS, and PRT

Excellent communication, customer service, and attention to detail

Key Duties :

Create, file, and maintain medical records per military and DoD guidelines

Retrieve, track, and retire records as required

Review documentation for accuracy and completeness

Support records audits, reporting, and quality assurance

Provide customer service and front desk support as needed

Monday through Friday from 0730 – 1630
