The City of Muscatine is seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator to help individuals and families move beyond stable housing to long-term independence. This is an opportunity to use your human services experience to directly impact lives while working in a supportive, mission-driven environment.
What You'll Do :
Build positive relationships with program participants and landlords.
Determine eligibility for housing assistance and ensure compliance with HUD regulations.
Coach families toward financial stability and self-sufficiency goals.
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports to track progress and outcomes.
Collaborate with community partners to connect residents to employment, education, and support services.
What We're Looking For :
Associate's degree in Human Services or related field ( Bachelor's preferred )
Knowledge of resources and services available in the Muscatine area and at least three (3) years of experience in human services, with one year of direct client service
Training or experience in case management
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to read, interpret, and explain housing program guidelines
Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and preparing clear reports
Commitment to serving diverse populations with empathy and respect
Spanish language skills a plus
Valid driver's license and ability to maintain coverage under the City's insurance
