About this role
Reporting to the VP, Controllership, the Director of Global Payroll is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of global payroll operations across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. You will champion payroll processes, ensure compliance, partner with stakeholders, and apply the latest payroll technology to optimize efficiency and accuracy. You will lead a distributed team of payroll professionals to consistently deliver outstanding results.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Governance : Design, deploy, and govern the global payroll operating model, set a vision, drive regional alignment and prioritization, and establish service standards and a robust control environment.
- Operational Excellence : Oversee end-to-end compliant global payroll operations, in-house and outsourced, aligned with People & Culture standards. Develop and report global payroll metrics. Serve as SMEs for global mobility arrangements.
- Distributed Team Development : Coach, develop, and mentor a globally distributed payroll team and foster a culture of growth and continuous development.
- Stakeholder Management : Build collaborative relationships with internal partners (Corporate Equity, Accounting, FP&A, Tax, People & Culture, Benefits, Risk and Controls, etc.), external vendors, and global payroll teams. Serve as the primary global payroll contact for end-to-end processes.
- Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement : Identify and implement enhancements to payroll processes, systems, and analytics to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
- Compliance : Maintain knowledge of global regulations, benefits changes, and labor laws impacting payroll across regions. Ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and international payroll tax jurisdictions.
- System Leadership and Change Management : Act as SME for payroll software (ADP and CloudPay) and HRIS (Workday); lead system implementations and optimization projects. Translate systems needs into actionable plans.
- Internal Control : Develop and assess internal controls for payroll processes and software. Ensure SOX narratives, controls, and SOC-1 objectives are addressed.
Qualifications
Minimum 15+ years of progressive payroll management experience in a public, global corporation.Proven experience managing a large, multi-country payroll provider.At least 5+ years of management experience, leading and developing teams.Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.Demonstrated expertise with payroll platforms, ideally including ADP, CloudPay, and Workday.Experience navigating payroll complexities in fast-paced, consumer-oriented tech environments.Strong collaborative approach and ability to build cross-functional relationships.Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to management.Benefits
