GBS is seeking a Computer Programmer - Senior to provide designing, writing, testing, and maintaining code to create functional and efficient software applications languages (PHP, TUI, Moodle, Lucee Cold Fusion, Java, C++, JavaScript, SQL)
Job Functions
- Provide full systems development and maintenance life-cycle support, including requirements analysis, systems design, and process modeling.
- Expertise in one or more programming languages, such as PHP, TUI, Lucee, Moodle, Cold Fusion, JavaScript, C++, or SQL, depending on the project requirements.
- Identifies and fixes bugs or issues in the code to ensure proper functionality.
- Proficient with tools like GitHub to manage code changes and collaborate with teams.
- Ensures software modules integrate seamlessly with other systems or components.
- Develops and executes tests to validate code functionality.
- Provides clear comments and documentation for the code.
- Assists in debugging or understanding complex code sections.
- Follows industry standards, IBC, and HRMSD-specific guidelines for programming.
- Writes secure code to protect software from vulnerabilities.
Experience Requirements
Writing and optimizing code for system software, kernel modifications, and embedded applications.Enhancing the performance and efficiency of existing government IT systems.Ensuring that system software complies with federal cybersecurity regulations such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP.Diagnosing and resolving software and system-level issues to maintain system stability.Working closely with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to ensure seamless system integration.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in low-level programming languages such as PHP, TUI, Lucee, Moodle, Cold Fusion, JavaScript, C++, or SQL.Strong understanding of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Unix internals.Experience with kernel programming, device drivers, and firmware development.Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.Education / Certification Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.3-7 years of experience in system programming, preferably in a government or defense environment.Certifications such as Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are a plus.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent ResidentMust be able to obtain a position of public trust with the US GovernmentA background check will be required.
