Job description

Overview

Engine Specialist – technical leadership supporting fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft structural integrity programs. Lead analysis, develop tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural analysis of aircraft design, applying classical stress analysis, fatigue, damage tolerance, and FEM techniques.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, software, and analysis plans supporting aircraft maintenance, modification, and certification projects.
  • Review, approve, and document engineering analyses and deliverables; prepare formal reports and cost estimates.
  • Provide technical guidance to a team of engineers and technologists; liaison with other engineering departments and external agencies.
  • Support failure investigations, aircraft modification projects, and maintenance program development.
  • Develop and maintain airworthiness procedures and process manuals in compliance with civilian and military modification requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 10–20 years of aerospace engineering experience with expertise in aircraft structures, systems, and design modification.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis techniques, load spectrum development, FEM, static and fatigue analysis, and damage tolerance.
  • Experience in on-aircraft testing, data collection, trend analysis, and aircraft inspection / maintenance program development.
  • Knowledge of OEM drawing data, military and commercial certification, and MS Office / Windows environments.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia (APENS) or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with people at all levels, including continuous improvement and Lean & 5S activities.
  • Must meet Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements, Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
