Proficiency with rescue tools and ambulance service equipment is necessary, along with the ability to navigate the geographic area serviced. Successful candidates will exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, enabling them to engage effectively with patients, supervisors, and fellow team members.

The ability to recognize and interpret vital signs is vital, as is the capacity to make critical, life-saving decisions rapidly under pressure. Working in demanding and traumatic situations while maintaining composure, alongside a valid Utah Driver's License, completes the profile for this essential role in emergency transport medical services.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are :

• Graduation from high school or equivalent AND successful completion of EMT school and NREMT licensure at time of hire or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of emergency medical techniques, procedures, and practices; uses and effects of a variety of medications and drugs utilized on accident victims; rescue tools and emergency equipment carried in an ambulance, firefighting methods and procedures; interpersonal communication skills; state code, regulations, and laws affecting firefighting and ambulance service.
• Skill in the use of ambulance service equipment.
• Ability to recognize and interpret vital signs of accident and illness victims; make critical life and death decisions quickly and accurately; work under extreme mental tension and pressures; work a variety of shifts for long hours; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; effectively deal with demanding and traumatic situations; work in all weather conditions; develop effective working relationships with supervisors, medical professionals, fellow employees, and the public.
• Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.
