Medical Assistant
Schedule : Monday–Friday, 7 : 00am–3 : 00pm (No weekends or holidays)
Pay Rate : $17–$18 per hour
Position Overview
This role provides direct clinical and clerical support to a physician and a nurse practitioner in a correctional healthcare environment . The ideal candidate has strong clerical skills, excellent computer proficiency, and recent hands-on clinical experience. This position requires adherence to strict facility protocols, security procedures, and patient-care standards specific to a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities (in order of importance)
Perform selected patient-care tasks to support the care, examination, and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician or nurse supervisor.
Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for exams and procedures.
Assist patients and families, and promptly notify nursing staff of changes in patient condition.
Obtain and document vital signs, blood pressure, height, weight, EKGs, and lab specimens.
Maintain accurate and timely patient data and documentation.
Prepare exam rooms, including cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking supplies.
Clean assigned areas and support team members with general unit duties.
Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
Follow all facility policies, procedures, and patient-care guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 6 months of supervised clinical experience within the past 2 years in the relevant specialty.
Current BLS certification (Basic Life Support).
Statement of satisfactory health, including :
Hepatitis B documentation
Negative TB test or chest X-ray
Strong clerical background and computer skills required.
