Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Charleston, West Virginia (25304)

Healthcare Setting : Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg) Unit

Employment Type : Travel Nursing Assignment

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1590 - $1710

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license, eligible for West Virginia nursing jobs

BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification – required before first shift

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification – required before first shift

Minimum 2 years of recent bedside clinical experience in a Med / Surg or acute care setting

Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission

Develop and implement individualized care plans; identify and address patient teaching needs

Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record

Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning to support optimal outcomes

Communicate changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary healthcare team for continuity of care

Supervise and mentor LPNs, CNAs, and new staff or orientees

Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital safety policies and procedures

Foster a positive team environment and contribute to collaborative healthcare delivery

Assume charge nurse duties as needed following orientation

Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to advance nursing skills
