Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT who is excited to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teacher assistants who seek a challenging yet rewarding experience.

REPORTS TO :   Principal

Provide direct occupational therapy services to students enrolled in assigned locations.  With the guidance of the Supervising Occupational Therapist, design therapy interventions, conduct screenings, and provide input for IEP goals.

  • Contingent upon funding

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • License required by the RI Department of Health : COTA
  • AND

  • Associate's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university, or higher
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience working with students who are moderately / severely disabled
  • Preschool / Elementary / Middle / High School levels
  • Experience working in a school setting
  • DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students consistent with IEP requirements
  • Provide consultation to classroom teachers and staff and needed and required by IEPs
  • Provide written reports on services provided and / or progress notes as required by the special education office
  • Willingness to work as an itinerant to cover all components of this assignment
  • Willingness to work with families of walk-in students on carry-over activities for the home setting and scheduling of therapy sessions
  • Willingness to complete home instruction for OT services
  • Documentation of services for Medicaid purposes
  • Completion of screenings and other portions of the process as assigned by the supervising OTR
  • Any / all duties that may be assigned by the Director of Special Education
