We are looking for a Staff Engineer to help us take Cloud Cost Management, one of Datadog’s newest products, to the next level.

Datadog Cloud Cost Management provides you granular visibility into costs across all of your cloud resources from the same observability platform your engineering teams already use. Datadog automatically surfaces changes in your cloud costs and visualizes cost data alongside the rest of your metrics, traces, logs, and other telemetry, making it easy to find and fix cost inefficiencies.

We are a fast growing product within Datadog and looking for a Staff Engineer who can help us build a great product experience and solve challenging technical problems of scale. As a Staff Engineer, you will drive and collaborate on projects both inside and outside the product. You can expect to make key technical decisions relating to our data ingestion, processing, cost optimization recommendations and product experience.

What You'll Do:

• Partner with Product and Design to build a great customer experience

• Provide technical leadership across one or several areas of the platform

• Lead and guide other engineers through architectural platform decisions

• Identify potential system risks and trends in reliability and design solutions to address them

• Provide input on prioritizing engineering-led initiatives in short- and long-term planning and roadmaps

• Pave the way for forward looking initiatives where the team needs to go in the near future

Who You Are:

• You have led cross-team initiatives in a product engineering focused environment for several years

• You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where customer experience, performance, ease of use, and resilience/operability are first-order concerns

• You enjoy mentoring and coaching other engineers to become even stronger

• You have experience with bills or cost management from the major cloud providers and/or have worked closely with FinOps

• You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent experience
