Director, Research Donor Facility
At eGenesis, we aspire to deliver safe and effective human transplantable cells, tissue and organs utilizing the latest advancements in genome editing.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director, Research Donor Facility to oversee the daily operations of our research facility. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, and supporting our research activities. In this role, you will both directly and indirectly lead the staff in the Research Donor facility to ensure a reliable supply for eGenesis' research needs and to support clinical trials. You will also collaborate with Quality, Regulatory and Clinical Operations to produce safe and effective drug products. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, efficient, and humane environment for both animals and staff.
Oversee holistic day-to-day operations and management of the research pig facility.
Facility Management :
- Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the research pig facility, ensuring it runs efficiently and effectively
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders in the planning and design of new or renovated facilities
- Ensure that the facility complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards, including biosecurity protocols and animal welfare guidelines
- Ensuring compliance with standards through the monitoring and recording of all work processes
- Oversee production of research animals, provide facility reports to leadership, and propose risk mitigation strategies as needed
- Oversee the inventory management of all supplies, including feed, bedding, and equipment
- Ensure all supplies are stored properly and used efficiently to minimize waste
Animal Care and Welfare :
Develop and implement protocols for the care, feeding, and housing of pigs to ensure their well-being in close collaboration with the Animal Resources Managers and the Veterinarian staffMonitor animal health and coordinate with veterinarians to address any health concernsManage donor production, monitoring of pregnancy, and care of pigletsPromote and adhere to safety in the workplace :
Report unsafe acts and conditions and ensure equipment is maintained correctlyReport all accidents / incidentsInspect work area and take remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards such as completing required training assignments, forms, and other paperworkAs essential personnel, occasional animal work outside of normal business hours or availability for emergency response may be required but very limitedParticipate in developing a breeding strategy to produce our drug productCompliance and Record Keeping :
Maintain accurate records of production, and facility operationsEnsure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including those related to animal welfare, biosecurity, and environmental impactWriting and reviewing SOPsParticipate in IACUC meetings and inspectionsPrepare for and participate in facility inspections and auditsPeople Leadership :
Responsible for people leadership of the entire site and specifically direct reports to include, development and coaching, goal setting, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and overall adherence to company procedures and policiesMinimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered10 years of experience in animal facility management, preferably in a pig or livestock facilityStrong knowledge of animal welfare standards, biosecurity protocols, and relevant regulations10 years of demonstrated proven leadership of a diverse teamExcellent organizational and problem-solving abilitiesStrong communication skills, both written and verbalProficiency in using facility management software and maintaining accurate recordsPreferred Qualifications :

Work Environment :
This job operates in multiple environments, including office, laboratory, and animal husbandry / farm environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job may require the use of hazardous chemicals, conduct sample collection on livestock, exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and odors, and operating in a dusty environment.
