Working under the direction of a Senior Engineer, AHA is seeking a Design Engineer (HVAC) for our Boston or Burlington offices. The successful candidate will prepare engineering design concepts for HVAC building systems for moderately complex assignments. Project types include : Corporate, Academic, Science & Technology, Industrial, Mission Critical Civic & Entertainment, Healthcare, Historic Preservation & Adaptive Reuse and Mixed Use.

The Design Engineer will utilize technical skills in CAD and BIM software daily to create precise HVAC system layouts and documentation. Analytical skills are essential for performing load calculations and evaluating system performance to ensure designs meet client needs and regulatory requirements. Strong communication and collaboration skills enable effective coordination with architects, contractors, and other engineers to resolve design challenges and integrate systems seamlessly. Problem-solving abilities are applied when addressing site-specific constraints and adapting designs to evolving project conditions. Additionally, staying informed about industry standards and emerging technologies allows the engineer to incorporate innovative, energy-efficient solutions that enhance overall project value.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC system design within commercial or industrial building projects.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of HVAC codes, standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA), and energy efficiency principles.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechanical concepts
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings
