About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Profession : Registered Nurse (RN)

Specialty : RN Labor and Delivery

Duration : 13 Weeks

Shift : Nights

Hours per Shift : 12 Hours (7 PM - 7 AM)

Experience : Minimum years of experience required

License : Registered Nurse License

Certifications : AWHONN, BLS, ACLS, NRP Required

Must-Have : Must circulate and recover; scrubbing is desired

Description :

Provide care in the labor and delivery unit.

Perform patient assessment according to unit policy.

Conduct initial assessments appropriate to the patient's clinical presentation and care setting.

Complete assessments including physical evaluations, psychological status, social status, and any other patient needs.

Identify and prioritize the need for further assessments based on patient circumstances.

Initiate discharge planning upon patient admission as appropriate.

Develop a Patient Plan of Care that is individualized for each patient.

Incorporate input from the patient, family, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members.

Include plans for discharge or transfer in the Patient Plan of Care.

Identify nursing diagnoses relevant to assessment findings.

Determine nursing interventions specific to identified patient needs.

Perform nursing interventions outlined in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care.

Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team regarding patient care needs.

Conduct patient and family education tailored to the patient's age, learning needs, and readiness to learn.

Include family and significant others in education when appropriate.

Document nursing interventions and patient teaching on designated forms.

Evaluate and document the patient's response to the Plan of Care and interventions.

Revise and update the Plan of Care based on patient responses.

Document the patient's response to teaching on the designated form.

Be accountable for conduct and independent decisions made during job performance.

Participate in unit activities aimed at improving services.

Act as a preceptor for new healthcare team members and student nurses when requested.

Delegate tasks effectively to appropriate healthcare team members.

Provide input for policy and procedure development.

Demonstrate sound judgment and effective decision-making in the nursing process.

Triage and prioritize multiple patient interventions.

Adjust priorities based on new assessment data.

Identify necessary supplies, equipment, and additional personnel for assignments.

Analyze data collected and act appropriately based on alternatives.

Facilitate systems and processes in response to situations that could negatively impact patient outcomes.
