Location
Lincoln, Nebraska
Must reside in the State of Nebraska.
Work is performed on-site in downtown Lincoln during normal business hours (Monday-Friday).
The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Applications Developer to join our Information Technology team. This position will primarily support the Driver Licensing System (DLS), which underpins driver licensing and identification card operations statewide. The developer will also assist in maintaining and enhancing the Motor Vehicle Title and Registration (MVTR) system and other agency applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual to gain experience in enterprise software development, work with experienced developers, and contribute to mission-critical systems that directly serve Nebraska residents.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance DMV applications primarily in the Driver Licensing System (DLS) using C#.
Support additional DMV applications, including the Motor Vehicle Title and Registration (MVTR) using VB and where applicable C#.
Design and implement database queries, and data interfaces.
Collaborate with analysts and technical staff to translate business requirements into reliable, secure software solutions.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues.
Conduct unit and system testing and participate in code reviews.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation for developed components.
Assist with application deployments to test and production environments.
Requirements / Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications :
Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications :
Residency within the State of Nebraska and ability to work on-site in Lincoln during normal business hours.
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems, or a closely related field; or equivalent technical education and experience.
Demonstrated experience or coursework in :
C# / .NET
Relational database development and SQL
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
Software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate within a team environment and follow established standards.
Commitment to producing high-quality, maintainable, and secure code.
Knowledge of :
Software development principles and methods; design techniques and tools; software testing, programming, and documentation procedures; system design, development, optimization, and integration; and basic mathematics.
Skill in :
Problem-solving using math; programming and debugging; integrating hardware and software; effective communication; reading comprehension; writing and maintaining code; and active learning to apply new information.
Ability to :
Apply programming languages; analyze and organize information logically; identify and solve problems; plan, prioritize, and focus on detailed work; communicate technical information clearly; and test, implement, document, and maintain software and source code.
