Ophthalmic Technician

Location :

Commack, NY ( Must be willing to float to Southampton, NY as needed )

Schedule : Monday–Friday, 9 : 00 AM – 5 : 30 PM

Pay Rate : $24-$30

About the Role :

We are seeking experienced Ophthalmic Technicians to join our Ophthalmology team and provide high-quality clinical support to our physicians. The ideal candidates will perform a variety of complex clinical and technical functions under the general supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or health professional.

You’ll be an essential part of the patient care experience—serving as the first point of contact in the exam room and ensuring the physician has accurate, thorough diagnostic data for each visit.

Key Responsibilities :

Obtain baseline diagnostic information for physicians, including all ancillary testing.

Take patient medical and ocular histories, documenting presenting complaints, medications, allergies, and relevant past ocular history.

Measure and record visual acuity, refraction, color vision, lensometry, and intraocular pressure.

Perform ancillary testing such as :

Visual fields

Corneal topography

HRT

OCT (A and B scan)

Fundus photography

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.

Support physicians and clinical staff in delivering excellent patient care.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician I (required)

High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting

Willingness to float to other sites when needed (Commack, St. James, and Southampton)
