Must-Have: Trauma experience preferred for TICU

Description:
Candidates must have experience with surgical patients.

The unit has 10 beds for surgical cases.

The unit has 8 beds for trauma cases.

Nurse to patient ratios can vary from 1:1 to 1:2 depending on patient acuity.

EMR used for charting is Cerner.

Charge nurses generally do not take patients but may perform break relief.

Safety attendants are utilized as nurse aides.

Every other weekend is a requirement.

Holidays are rotated among core staff.

Scrub color is navy, with specific guidelines for under shirts.

All staff must be capable of reading and interpreting EKG strips.

Ventilator management experience is required.

There is a hospitalist or intensivist available in-house.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.

Self-scheduling is used, but it is not finalized until the manager balances it.

Schedules are posted four weeks in advance.

Travelers can access their schedules from home for availability and trading shifts.

Block scheduling is generally not available.

Floating may occur to other facilities as needed.

Orientation on the floor usually lasts between one to two days with a preceptor.

Common diagnoses include postoperative recovery from various surgical procedures and trauma cases.

Interdisciplinary rounds are conducted on all patients during the day.

The facility reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment.
