Position Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer will lead quality assurance initiatives within an automotive manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements. This role involves driving continuous improvement, implementing robust quality systems, and applying Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects and enhance process capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 , ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality standards.
- Lead APQP , PPAP , and FMEA activities for new product launches and engineering changes.
- Manage control plans , process capability studies (Cp, Cpk) , and measurement system analysis (MSA) .
- Investigate and resolve internal and external quality issues using root cause analysis and 8D methodology .
- Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty claims.
- Support supplier quality management , including audits, corrective actions, and performance monitoring.
- Prepare and present quality metrics and reports to management and customers.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and production teams on quality tools and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred).5+ years of quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing .Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 , Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification preferred.Proficient in problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).Experience with GD&T , statistical analysis , and quality software (e.g., Minitab).Excellent communication and leadership skills.Preferred Skills
Familiarity with customer-specific requirements (OEM / Tier 1).Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.Experience with auditing (internal and supplier).
