About this Job
The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to perform routine sub-professional nursing duties in the care and comfort of our Veteran patients.

Minimum Qualifications
Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR

Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR

Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.

NOTE:
Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
As a Nursing Assistant, you will measure temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, heights/weights, and record in patients' medical records.

In this role, you will also:

• Directs and assists in providing care to patients such as ambulating, bathing, positioning, lifting, and dressing.
• Directs and assists in the feeding of patients. Monitors and documents eating patterns of patients.
• Cleans rooms, makes and changes bed linen.
• Distributes clean linens, washes, dries, sorts, folds, and stores patient's clothing.
• Measures temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, intake and output and records in patient's medical record.
• Observes patient's condition and reports any changes to charge nurse.
• Provides care to patients with infectious diseases, as needed.

Location: Nursing Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
Appointment Type: Probational or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Nursing Assistant 1 or 2 (CNA 1 or 2)
Work Schedule: Work may involve shift work.
Compensation: This position offers hourly premium pay and shift differentials, with additional rates based on the shift worked per applicable pay policies. The Special Entrance Rate for this position is as follows:Nursing Assistant 1 - $13.74/hr
Nursing Assistant 2 - $14.70/hr
