In this newly created role, one of the first calls to action will be identifying and attracting highly skilled software engineers with capabilities and character to build the foundation of the Emerging Technology Team. Additionally, the head of Emerging Technology will be responsible for advancing AI capabilities, driving innovation through use case development, and embedding AI into the fabric of our business. The leader will work closely with Architecture, technology functions, and business partners to ensure alignment and scalability. The ideal candidate will also have a deep understanding of the insurance industry, regulatory requirements, and the unique opportunities within the P&C industry.## QualificationsMinimum 15 years’ experience leading and managing a high performing engineering teams. Proven experience defining and executing enterprise-level AI strategies, ideally within regulated industries such as insurance or financial services. General familiarity with underwriting, claims, actuarial models, and regulatory frameworks specific to the property and casualty insurance industry. Strong foundation in AI, Machine Learning, and GenAI technologies, including model development, Large Language Models, deployment, and lifecycle management. Experience collaborating with enterprise and business architecture teams to ensure scalable, secure, and integrated AI solutions. Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GLBA, CCPA), model transparency, and ethical AI practices relevant to insurance. Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders, technology functions, compliance, and data teams to drive AI adoption and innovation. Experience managing AI vendors, open-source tools, and external partnerships to accelerate capability development. Ability to lead organizational change, upskill teams, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning. Strong skills in identifying, prioritizing, and quantifying the value of AI use cases aligned with business objectives. Excellent communication and storytelling skills to influence executive stakeholders and represent the organization in industry forums.## ResponsibilitiesDefine and lead the enterprise AI team, aligning with business goals and technology vision. Build and scale internal AI (Predictive AI / GenAI / Agentic AI) capabilities, including platforms, tools, and talent development. Identify, prioritize, and lead high-impact AI use cases across business functions. Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Business Architecture, and Cybersecurity to ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and integrated. Serve as a thought leader and internal evangelist for responsible AI adoption and innovation. Establish governance frameworks for ethical AI use, model transparency, and risk management. Collaborate with functional leaders to embed AI into core business processes and decision-making. Oversee vendor partnerships, open-source contributions, and external collaborations in the AI ecosystem. Monitor emerging trends in AI and assess their relevance and applicability to the company. Develop and manage a roadmap for AI capability maturity, including KPIs and success metrics. Lead cross-functional teams of software engineers and product managers to deliver AI solutions. Ensure compliance with regulatory and privacy standards in AI implementations. Represent the company in industry forums and with external stakeholders on AI topics. Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and innovation in AI. Help align AI initiatives with the specific needs and goals of the business. Ensure AI solutions comply with industry regulations, including data privacy and security standards relevant to the insurance industry. Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams to develop AI-driven solutions that enhance risk assessment, claims processing, and customer experience. Partner with regulatory and compliance teams to navigate the evolving landscape of AI regulations in the insurance industry.
