We are hiring remarkable summer camp staff to serve our camp programming areas! Join our summer camp team and make $500 per week.

We are seeking a high-energy Waterfront Coordinator who will be responsible for organizing and administering waterfront and pool activities, including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and other watercraft activities. Successful candidates will share their enthusiasm for outdoor camp adventures while guiding girls to experience a fun and exciting week at camp.   • The ideal candidate should be…

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Experience in teaching, guiding, and working with children.
  • Excited to be outdoors and work with youth.
  • Interested or experienced in camp and guiding youth in a variety of activities.
  • Energetic and has a desire to grow future girl leaders.
  • Visual / auditory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards.
  • Ability to respond calmly in a crisis situation.
  • Excellent customer service, including the ability to maintain a calm demeanor with adults in conflict.
  • Small watercraft experience (kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding) preferred.
  • Experience in an aquatic setting : lake setting experience or certification is preferred.
  • Certified or able to become Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED certified.
  • Certified or able to become American Red Cross Lifeguard certified, or certification from another organization having equal standards. Waterfront Module preferred.
  • Willing to stay in Mindoro, WI for the entire summer and live onsite with our campers.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.

  • What you will do :

  • Supervise lifeguards : assign and schedule in-services, trainings, skill evaluations, and programs for units / campers. Resolve interpersonal issues if they arise.
  • Create and implement waterfront activity schedules, safety guidelines, and programs including swimming, canoeing, and kayaking.
  • Conduct inventory, order new equipment, and maintain existing waterfront equipment to include essential items.
  • Maintain and review records for all waterfront programs, operations, and facilities.
  • Communicate and train staff in safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Develop steady relationships with staff and campers.
  • Provide observation and supervision to staff members who work in your program area : providing instruction, delegation, coaching, encouragement, and correction as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of pool, shower house, and boat house.
  • Assist in supervision of campers to cover for breaks of other camp staff.
  • Give instructions to campers and camp staff, using authority when necessary.
  • Participate in all camp activities; campfires, games, serenades, etc.
  • Lead the opening and closing of the waterfront.
  • Help to ensure that the value of experiencing camp is achieved : keeping campers focused, engaged, and motivated to learn new skills.
  • Maintain the highest level of safety during activities.
  • Supervise and assist with camp cleaning, sanitation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Help each girl learn to respect the rights of others and appreciate herself and others.
  • Ensure implementation of Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Assist in the opening and closing procedures of camp, including staff training.
  • Comprehend and implement emergency procedures through regular practice drills.
  • Maintain the health and safety of campers.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for both campers and other staff.
  • Physical & Other Requirements :

    The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand :

  • Living and sleeping in a rustic outdoor environment.
  • Working irregular hours : early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Lifting and / or moving up to 40 pounds.
  • Walking, hiking, and working outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.
