Posting Summary

The Division of Surgical Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute, within the Department of Surgery, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health System, is recruiting at the Assistant / Associate Professor rank for an academically oriented Surgical Oncologist. We are searching for a candidate with a strong interest and expertise in complex gastrointestinal surgical oncology to join a clinically and academically well-established multi-disciplinary program and provide clinical services in the newly opened state-of-the-art Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center. Preferred qualifications include at least 3-5 years of clinical experience and skill in minimally invasive and robotic procedures. There is a strong opportunity for professional development under active mentorship. The incumbent will report to the Division Chief of Surgical Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute. The academic appointment will be at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and located in New Brunswick, NJ. Faculty members are expected to support the educational goals of the school, engaging in teaching activities for medical students and residents, as well as delivering targeted lectures in their area of expertise. Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School

Rutgers Cancer Institute is home to nearly 250 internationally recognized physicians and researchers. The long-standing relationship with their NCI Research Consortium Partner Princeton University was recently leveraged to establish the Ludwig Cancer Research Princeton Branch with several faculty as founding members and leaders of the Branch. Their work on cancer metabolism, not only through the new Ludwig Branch but also through the Duncan and Nancy MacMillan Cancer Immunology and Metabolism Center of Excellence at Rutgers Cancer Institute, will accelerate and translate laboratory discoveries into clinical treatments through more effective and efficiently designed clinical trials.

Division of Surgical Oncology

The Surgical Oncology Division at Rutgers Cancer Institute combines fellowship-trained surgeons with the most advanced technologies and innovative surgical techniques to treat the entire spectrum of cancer - from benign disease to the most complex cases. Our physicians perform many surgical procedures using minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted surgery, which reduce tissue damage and decrease pain, promote faster recovery times, and improve patient outcomes. Rutgers Cancer Institute is one of the few centers in the region whose surgeons have vast expertise in managing patients' disease through the unique treatment option called HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) to treat cancers that have spread to the abdominal cavity - a condition known as peritoneal metastases. Our surgical oncologists are also world-renowned cancer researchers who are investigating the effects of combining innovative surgical techniques with medical and radiation oncology, enabling us to offer our patients the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials.
