General Accountant – Construction Industry

El Cajon, CA | Full-Time | Onsite

Are you an independent, hands-on accounting professional looking to join a growing construction company? LHH is partnering with a respected regional contractor to find a General Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

About the Company :

This organization specializes in construction projects across the San Diego region. With a small office team and most employees in the field, you’ll play a vital role in keeping operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities :

Manage accounts payable, including progress billing and coordination with subcontractors across multiple projects

Oversee accounts receivable, including lien releases, waivers, and collections

Handle insurance documentation and compliance

Process payroll and certified payroll for approximately 45 employees using Paychex; verify timesheets and coordinate approvals with the Owner

Support general accounting functions as needed

Collaborate closely with the Owner and office administrator

Utilize Procore and Textura

What We’re Looking For :

Experience in construction industry accounting is required

Ability to work independently, ask questions, and solve problems with minimal supervision

Familiarity with Sage accounting software (any version) and basic Excel skills; advanced skills are a plus

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Schedule & Compensation :

Standard hours : 6 : 00am–2 : 30pm (flexible if needed)
