Cyber Security Engineer
SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer for a Direct Hire opportunity with one of our clients sitting REMOTE. We are looking for someonewho is motivated to become an integral part of a mission driven organization!This candidate will take part in developing and optimizing state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions, safeguarding the company and customers' critical assets. This is a highly collaborative role working across multiple security focused business units ensuring that the organization's and customers' critical assets are safeguarded.
Required Skills of the Cyber Security Engineer :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or related field. Equivalent work experience and certifications may be considered.
- Minimum of 4 years in a cybersecurity engineering role , working closely with software, DevOps, and / or infrastructure teams in a custom application or cloud-first environment.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following technology areas :
Data / Analytics stack : Python, Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Kafka, Tableau, Git, Informatica, Kestra, Excel.
Software / Infrastructure stack : JavaScript (JS), PHP, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Kafka / Airflow, NeonDB, Cloudflare, GitLab, Doppler.Deep experience securing applications in cloud environments (DigitalOcean highly preferred; AWS or GCP experience transferable).Familiarity with SIEM tools (Elastic preferred) , EDR, SWG, CASB, DLP, IDS / IPS, and related technologies.Working knowledge of network and endpoint architectures supporting distributed and remote teams.Understanding of industry security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, Cyber Defense Matrix, and MITRE ATT&CK.Familiarity with automation / orchestration tools and scripting (Python, Bash, or similar).Cloud or security-related certifications such as Security+, CCSP, CASP+, CISSP, or CEH are a plus.Duties and Responsibilities of the Cyber Security Engineer :
Work with Data Engineering, Analytics, and IT Operations to weave security and data governance best practices seamlessly into the software development life cycle.Evaluate, design, and implement robust security systems.Resolve security alerts or breaches, safeguarding our digital borders.Develop, modify, and implement security controls aligned with company policies and procedures that affect cybersecurity operations.Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, frameworks, and regulations.Evaluate company and vendor technology infrastructure security. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, reviews, and testing to continuously improve operational resilience.Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability scanning on all company networks and applications. Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities based on severity and impact.Research emerging products, technologies, and best practices to improve security posture for the company.Assess, prioritize, and translate report findings into actionable insights for internal stakeholders and security team.Work Location : REMOTE
