Overview
This is a public notice for Drug Enforcement Administration Criminal Investigator GL-1811-7 / 9 / 11 positions open to U.S. Citizens. A job announcement will be posted on USAJOBS on January 5, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Conducts complex criminal investigations targeting narcotics and drug-related activities
- Prepares comprehensive and succinct criminal investigative reports and delivers briefings for senior personnel and other Federal, state, and local agencies
- Identifies and apprehends drug traffickers and individuals engaged in criminal drug activities
- Gathers and analyzes evidence through investigative leads, seizures, arrests, execution of search warrants, and other means
- Testifies on behalf of the Federal government in court or before grand juries
Additional duties may be assigned based upon an individual's knowledge, skills, and / or experience.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GL / GS-05 in the Federal service, including performing investigations, writing reports, and analyzing dataSubstitution of education for experience : one year of graduate education or Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may applyFor The GL-09 Level
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GL / GS-07, including investigative duties and testing or presenting evidence in courtSubstitution of education for experience : Master's degree or 2 years of eligible graduate study, LL.B. or J.D., or combination of education and experienceFor The GS-11 Level
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GL / GS-09, including federal criminal investigations, developing investigative plans, undercover work or surveillance, handling confidential sources, interviewing and testifying, and organizing evidenceSubstitution of education for experience : Ph.D. or equivalent; or 3 years of higher-level graduate study; or combination of education and experienceAdditional information on qualifications standards is located in the OPM Handbook.
