Position Summary
Aventon is looking for a hands-on Paralegal to join our team and support a wide range of legal and business matters. This role is highly cross-functional and will touch on contracts, corporate records, intellectual property, compliance, and claims management. You’ll also play a key role in helping the company manage injury-related claims and lawsuits. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing legal work with business needs in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, agreements, and company policies.
- Maintain and organize corporate records, including minute books, resolutions, and compliance filings.
- Coordinate with external counsel to ensure timely communication and efficient case management.
- Assist in managing product- and bike-related claims and litigation matters.
- Support legal responses to lawsuits and prepare documentation, evidence, and discovery materials.
- Track and monitor all claims, litigation, and related deadlines.
- Support the management of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Conduct legal research on laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Assist with compliance initiatives and monitor updates to applicable regulations.
- Provide administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling, correspondence, and file management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and documentation for legal matters.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications :
Paralegal certificate or Associate degree in Paralegal Studies from an accredited program (Bachelor’s degree preferred).Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in the retail, consumer products, or e-mobility / electric bicycle industries.Strong knowledge of corporate, contract, intellectual property, and litigation procedures.Experience managing product liability claims, injury claims, or related lawsuits is highly desirable.Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).Experience with legal document management or case management software is a plus.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions :
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to use hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment, including keyboard, mouse, telephone, copier, and scanner.Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and in writing.Occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds (such as files, case binders, or office supplies).Ability to bend, reach, and retrieve documents from filing cabinets or shelves.Work is performed in an in-office, climate-controlled environment.Regular work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility required to meet deadlines.Standard office equipment is used daily; noise level is typically low to moderate.Minimal travel may be required for meetings, court filings, or offsite consultations.Keys to Success :
