Patient Care Technician

Job Responsibilities :

• Assist in the smooth flow of the clinic by :
• Providing translation for non-bilingual staff.
• Set up and stock the exam room and Smart Carts.
• Assisting nurses in preparing patients for medical visits by taking BP, HT, WT, temperature, Respiratory Rate, Pulse, vision and hearing screening, EKG, and NSTs.
• Perform lab assistant duties on a rotating basis as assigned by nurse to include :
• Routine lab procedures-HCT, PG Test Urine dipstick, chem strip, Q-Strips.
• Collect blood and urine specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis.
• Complete necessary paperwork.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of procedures performed, tests administered, and results received.
• Maintain cleanliness of lab area, restock lab, as necessary.
• Assist in the maintenance of medical records and data collection :
• Review patient data on the chart each visit,
• Place appropriate forms in the chart for each visit, depending on the reason for the visit.
• Assist nurse with follow-up activities as assigned.
• Perform injections as instructed.
• Follow nurse and physician orders as instructed.
• Provide patient education and information.
• Comply with the SSCHC TB Control Plan including PPD testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
