Job Title : Behavioral Health Counselor
Job Code : HCP101 / Behavioral Health Counselor 1 or T1401 Professional Social Services Worker
Shift : PRN / Hourly (Up to 19 hours per week)
Job Hours : Times May Vary (Approximate schedule- Tues. & Wed- 9am-3 : 30pm, Thurs- 1pm-5pm)
Base Location : Lawrenceville- Court Services- Pike St.

View Point Health's Court Services provides group, family, and individual education, skills-based training and supportive counseling to consumers and their families / significant others. Designs counseling / education services that meet the individual needs of the consumer. Educates families / significant others on the addiction and recovery process.Assesses consumers treatment needs and assists him / her to develop appropriate individual treatment goals.
Under supervision, counsels with emphasis on prevention and / or behavior modification. Works with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. May help individuals deal with addiction and substance abuse, family, parenting, and marital problems, suicide, stress management, problems with self-esteem, and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Provides case management to the clients in the DUI / Drug and Family Treatment Courts.Research and vets community resources and connect clients with these resources. Develop treatment plans and updates as needed. Conduct group, individual, and family counseling with clients in a Drug / DUI and Family Treatment Court programs.Attends training for various evidence-based practices and provides these treatments with fidelity to the model / s. Writes timely progress notes for all services provided. Works closely with DUI / Drug / Family Treatment Court case managers.Function as a member of the Drug / DUI / Family Treatment Court team. Attend Drug / DUI / Family Treatment Court staffing and court sessions on a weekly basis. Communicates with the Drug / DUI / Family Treatment Court teams and keeps them updated on client progress. Participates in treatment team meetings. Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Behavioral Health Counselor position equivalent.
Note : Some positions may require certification or licensure.
Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English & Spanish. BilingualCertification as an addiction counselor (CAC I / II, CADC I / II, MAC, CAADC, etc.)Experience providing case management services.Experience with Excel and / or spreadsheetsExperience providing groups.Experience working with clients involved in the criminal justice system.
Requirements / Competencies :
Must be able to lift 20 pounds.Requires long periods of sitting / standing.Must have valid Georgia drivers license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting)Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.
Note : Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
