Team context
The Platform Product Group's mission is to build a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform to maximize velocity, efficiency and quality, enabling a consistent, high-quality experience across Coinbase. The Compliance Technology Team develops globally scalable systems to meet regulatory requirements, including transaction monitoring, sanctions and screening systems, customer risk scoring, and other compliance solutions ensuring compliance with regulations while maintaining a seamless customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Full-stack development from backend Golang services to UIs with professional UX for various internal Compliance use cases.
- Plan, design, develop, and test software systems or applications for enhancements and new products, including cloud-based tools.
- Design scalable systems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate product and technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
- Collaborate and integrate services with Retail and Institutional product teams to drive customer benefits while maintaining a top-tier Compliance program.
- Debug complex technical problems and improve deployability, operability, and diagnosability of systems / products.
- Review feature designs within your product area and across the company for cross-cutting projects.
- Own the security, safety, scale, operational integrity, and architectural clarity of these designs.
- Build pipelines to integrate with third-party vendors and build event-driven system architectures.
- Lead multiple engineering-focused efforts in parallel while upholding high service quality standards.
- Create and enforce processes to improve engineering quality, AI adoption, and high-impact delivery for each team member.
- Maintain a high bar for recruiting engineering talent and raise the engineering skills within the team.
- Contribute to processes that drive engineering quality and meet SLAs; be a thoughtful technical voice in architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and processes, collaborating with Product and Engineering teams for multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.
What we look for
At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, developing web apps and shipping user-facing features with TypeScript and modern component-based JS frameworks like React and NextJS.At least 2 years of engineering management experience.Hands-on capability for coding, technical documentation, on-call rotations and incident leadership, or triaging / troubleshooting bugs.Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services, with knowledge of service-oriented architecture.Experience working with backend systems utilizing Golang, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together.Familiarity with frontend architecture trends, including performance, security, and usability.Familiar with product and design lifecycles, collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and product managers.Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices.Nice to have
