Avant Tech is excited to announce a career opportunity for a dedicated and knowledgeable Defense Employment Law Attorney specializing in the Public Sector . This role is designed for an attorney eager to provide expert legal counsel on labor and employment matters pertaining to government entities and public organizations.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in employment law with an emphasis on representing public sector clients in various legal aspects, including litigation, compliance, and advisory roles.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide legal guidance on employment law matters affecting public sector clients, including policies and procedures.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including litigation related to employment disputes, discrimination claims, harassment, and wrongful termination.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, severance agreements, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct training for staff on employment law compliance and best practices.
  • Stay current with changes in employment law and regulatory requirements that affect public sector employers.
  • Advise clients on disciplinary actions, grievances, and workplace investigations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution
  • 8+ years of experience in employment law and litigation experience, preferably with a focus on public sector defense. 80% Litigation
  • Active membership in the State Bar and in good standing
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws / regulations
  • Demonstrated experience in litigation and representing clients in administrative and court proceedings
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Proven civil trial experience preferred (1st or 2nd chair roles).
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
