American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a critical access hospital, requiring 2 years of ER experience and multiple current certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 10-bed Emergency Department with 2 trauma bays at a critical access hospitalHandles both adult and pediatric patients with a variety of acute conditions, including chest pain, abdominal pain, lacerations, STEMI, stroke, and traumaPatients include military personnel unable to be seen on baseAverage ER census is 35 patients per day with a 1 : 4 nurse-to-patient ratioTravelers are required to perform triage and manage intermixed ER holds12-hour night shifts (3 shifts per week), with weekend and potential holiday requirementsUses Epic EMR; experience with this system is preferredNo floating or on-call requirementsScrub color is flexible; any color is acceptableDay-to-day duties include triage, patient care, RN lab draws, and responding to ER emergenciesSupport staff include 1 CNA per shift, respiratory therapy 24 / 7, and a 24 / 7 security guard (when not called out)Charge RN is present and does not take patients; house supervisor is available at nightRadiology staff available to transport patients unless criticalTwo-day unit-specific orientation is providedNo blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests permittedFirst-time travelers are permittedPermanent former employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel position\n \n Requirements\n
Active ID or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are mandatoryExperience with all common ER drips, procedural sedation, and care for both adult and pediatric populationsAbility to read EKG strips and use SpaceLabs monitorsMust live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a travelerMust provide a copy of a valid driver's licenseTwo professional references required : one from a supervisor in the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years\n Benefits\n
