Part Time/Adjunct Surgical Technology Instructor.

Savannah Technical College is seeking Part Time/Adjunct Surgical Technology instructors.The part time/adjunct faculty member will provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to become employed in the profession of Surgical Technology.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

·Under general supervision demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques, testing, and grading procedures, to include proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.

·Must demonstrate knowledge of current procedures in the Surgical Technology field and demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills.

·Follows approved course syllabus.

·Monitors students’ use of supplies, materials, and equipment, and ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

·Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.

·Attends meetings as required and appropriate.

·Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual.

·Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia and other policies and procedures established by the Savannah Technical College.

Qualifications

·Must possess an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred.Degree must be from a private or public postsecondary institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or both.

·Must be a current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

·Three (3) years’ work experience in-field within the past five years as a surgical technologist in O.R. or as a Surgical Technology Instructor.

·Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·Must possess excellent customer service skills to work professionally with Savannah Tech employees, students, and visitors.

·Educational theory and methodology experience preferred.
