Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience

  • Experience using languages and tools such as APIs, ReactJS, Java, SQL, PL / SQL, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, and others as needed for specific job responsibilities.
  • Experience in managing projects including planning, designing, testing, documenting, and installing information systems.
  • Position Summary

    This position of Student Information Technical Lead will work with a team of other senior level application developer positions needed to provide research, analysis, application development, and support services for the Banner Student system as well as several system integrations / components that are part of the overall ERP implementation at UGA. The incumbent will provide innovative design and critical thinking for software projects. This employee will play a leadership role in recommending specific solution architecture options for various projects to enhance the digital student experience, work with cross functional team members to recommend creative technical solutions to business or system issues, and make technical recommendations for more efficient troubleshooting and issue resolutions.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies

  • Student Information System (SIS) who is an experienced and technical lead developer.
  • Advanced knowledge in all phases of analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance for an ERP system as well as all interfaces and touch-points.
  • Excellent communication and innovation skills needed. Interpret existing software code and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Experience with Linux, Oracle, Tomcat, IDE, and Git.

    Participate on a team with other technical leads to provide research and discovery to deploy new solutions for student information systems.

    1. Provide technical leadership, architecture, management, and coordination as needed for priority software development projects and system upgrades.

    2. Serves on a team as senior level software architect and provides key application development support to custom applications, web services, and system integrations.

    3. Design, code, test, implement, and document complex programs, program modifications, or applications for the ERP system by using development tools, languages and database structures.

    4. Develop solutions using languages and tools such as APIs, Java, SQL, PL / SQL, CSS, JavaScript, HTML, and others as needed for specific job responsibilities.

    5. Application development against Oracle, and other database structures as needed.

    6. Direct, supervise, and coordinate efforts of application analysts and programmers in planning, designing, testing, documenting, and installing information systems as needed.

    Provide technical leadership and support for technical and functional clients as needed to communicate enhancements to maintain services for student systems.

    1. Provide mentorship and support to developers and functional users with identifying and resolution of complex software solutions.

    2. Ensure communication and coordination of solutions across SIS services; application development, security, and system administrative needs.

    3. Coordinate personnel resources; delegate responsibilities to others assigned to the project or task.

    4. Maintain awareness of new and developing technologies, acquire and apply new technical skills. Provide documentation, training, and skill transfers of new knowledge to other staff members.

    5. Assist in developing and implementing structured training programs for junior programmers in order to enhance the ability to support the student system and integration points.

    Working with software tools to promote new methodologies and automation for upgrades and solutions.

    1. Engage with vendors to provide support, coordination, and oversight to software solutions for software lifecycle including development and deployment processes.

    2. Participate in vendor discussion for key production oversight for various implementations and processes for system instances, integrations, code repository, and services as needed.

    3. Assist with providing technical leadership in coordination and implementation of project plans as part of software deployment and promotion including student system upgrade installs.

    4. Participate in to department standards as required.

    Duties / Responsibilities

    Provide support and oversight to production application system operations as assigned. Coordinate solution and project tracking for the support of activities, successes, and issues.

    1. Be available for after-hour critical / core systems / application support, as needed. The duties and responsibilities of this position involve home or off campus internet service as a job requirement and the use of such internet service is for business purposes.

    2. Be officially required to provide emergency response for critical systems and applications.

    3. Develop software solutions to satisfy customer ad hoc requirements.

    4. Provide debug and troubleshooting of issues; formulate and implement approved corrections.
