Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available for the K-12 school setting in Melrose, NM, with a contract lasting the 2025-2026 school year. This role supports communication access for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, ensuring equal educational opportunities in the classroom environment.

Qualifications :

  • EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, including the written portion and RID certification, or
  • New Mexico Educator certification specifically for interpreting in K-12 settings

Job Details :

  • Start Date : August 4, 2025
  • End Date : June 6, 2026
  • Pay Rate : Starting at $30 per hour
  • Work Schedule : 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Age Group Served : Kindergarten through 12th grade

    • Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff
  • Interpret classroom instruction, school events, and extracurricular activities effectively and accurately
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to meet students individual communication needs
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
