Journeyman Electrician
Saint John's Physical Plant, located on the Saint John's University campus, invites applications for the full-time, benefit eligible position of Journeyman Electrician. Working under the guidance of the Master Electrician, this position is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrically powered systems, including distribution systems and equipment. The Electrician will also assist other Physical Plant personnel as needed. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.
Responsibilities :
- Completes maintenance work orders assigned through the computerized work order program.
- Accurately records labor and materials expended, and marks work complete within the work order software.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, inspects, tests, and maintains electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to : Emergency generators Elevators Automated transfer switches Variable frequency drives Automated lighting controls and lighting dimmers Circuit breakers Motor controls Food Service, Athletic, and Academic Equipment Security cameras and card access Alarms and communication wiring and equipment. Fiber optic cable.
- Assists with preventive maintenance of above referenced systems.
- Perform locates for campus underground utilities including but not limited to electrical, water, gas, sewer, and irrigation.
- Replaces ballasts and light bulbs.
- Sets up and removes power and lighting for events.
- Runs electrical conduit for installation of new equipment and wiring.
- Assists with material purchases and inventory management for the electric shop
Other Responsibilities Include :
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and supplies.Actively participates in and promotes the occupational safety program and environmental practices of the department.This position is required to carry a cell phone and be available for call back after hours, including evenings and weekends.Occasional weekend shifts and / or overtime are required as deemed necessary by supervisor or department director.Performs other duties as required by the director or supervisor.
