Job descriptionBoard Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Music Therapy from an AMTA approved program Completed 1,200 hours of clinical training, including a supervised internship Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a school or clinical setting preferred Fingerprint Clearance Card Professional Liability Insurance Strong understanding of child development, particularly in special education or mental health contexts Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Creative, patient, and flexible with a strong passion for helping students succeed through music Design and implement individualized music therapy interventions for students with a range of abilities, including those with special education needs (e.g., autism, developmental delays, emotional and behavioral disorders) Conduct individual and group music therapy sessions for children with developmental disabilities, incorporating a variety of music-based interventions to address therapeutic goals Collaborate with teachers, counselors, speech therapists, and other school staff to develop comprehensive therapeutic plans that align with students' IEP goals Facilitate group and one-on-one music therapy sessions aimed at improving emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and overall well-being Monitor and evaluate students' progress through consistent assessment, adjusting interventions as necessary Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on student progress and therapy outcomes in compliance with school and state guidelines Be part of a supportive, dynamic team that values innovation and creativity in education Opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of students by using your unique skills in music therapy Opportunity for training and growth

Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and compassionate Board Certified Music Therapist to join our Houston, TX team at The SPEAK Center. As a music therapist, you will work with students across various grade levels, including those with diverse learning needs. In this role, you will use evidence-based music therapy techniques to support students’ emotional, behavioral, and cognitive development by helping them reach their full potential in the school environment.
