PICU RN Job Details – New Haven, CT

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2310 - $2470

Location : New Haven, CT 06510 (Connecticut travel nursing opportunity)

Facility : Level I Trauma Center – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Short Term Acute Care

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 1 / 2 / 2026 – End : 4 / 3 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour nights (19 : 00 – 07 : 00), 3 shifts per week

Guaranteed Hours : Yes

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Patient Ratio : 1 : 2 average

Charting System : Epic

Scrub Color : Royal blue

Parking : On-site (fee applies)

PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of recent PICU RN experience (pediatric cardiac critical care, CRRT, and ECMO experience preferred)

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Connecticut RN license or eligibility to obtain prior to start

BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required

Prior travel nursing experience required

Level I Trauma Center experience required

Willingness to float to other pediatric units within scope of practice

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions permitted)

Not accepting local candidates (must reside more than 75 miles from facility)

1 professional reference required

PICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients (ages 0-25) with diverse diagnoses : cardiac, respiratory, GI, neuro, ortho, ENT, and trauma

Manage advanced therapies and equipment : ventilators, CRRT, ECMO, VAD, peritoneal dialysis, and heart transplant protocols

Administer blood products, manage central and PICC lines, interpret ABGs, and perform wound care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services)

Float to other pediatric units (Pediatric ED, NNICU, inpatient, psych) as needed, providing care within scope of practice

Maintain accurate documentation using Epic electronic health records

Participate in orientation and ongoing education modules as required
