JOB SUMMARY :

Jefferson County Department of Health is seeking to hire a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care to patients in a hospital, nursing home, or clinic. Work requires the Licensed Practical Nurse to perform duties such as taking and recording vital signs, dressing wounds, and administering specific medications orally and by injection.

Health Department $17.80 - $27.62

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position :

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.

OR

Option B

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Job primarily involves physical exertion required for sustained periods of light physical activity such as walking or standing with the occasional involvement of moderate physical exertion required for occasional prolonged periods of lifting, stooping, or carrying. May involve occasional lifting of items, or objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Work is performed primarily within medical or healthcare facilities. Work involves use of standard office equipment, such as computer, phone, copier, etc. Work also involves use of medical tools and equipment necessary for the care and / or diagnosis of healthcare patients. Work may involve exposure to contagious or infectious diseases (e.g., bodily fluids and airborne agents at hospitals and jails, lice, scabies, TB's, HIV / AIDS), bio-hazardous materials and bodily fluids.
