Responsibilities Work in a 35-bed Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown (PCU) unit within an acute care setting Care for adult cardiac stepdown patients including those with arrhythmias, CHF, post-CABG, pacer and chest tubes, temp and transvenous pacers, and patients on multiple titratable drips Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3-4 12-hour night shifts with a start time of 6 : 45 PM Every other weekend required with a rotation of 2 out of 3 major holidays Uses Cerner EMR system First to float among travelers; occasional floating to other Sacramento-area facilities Bedside report required at shift change Navy scrubs required, with specific color options for undershirts and jackets Care for a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiac patient population requiring strong time management and flexibility Travelers do not take LVAD patients Hospitalists or Intensivists are in-house; nurse aides available based on census RT and pharmacy services available 24 / 7 Self-scheduling used, finalized by the Manager; block scheduling not typically available 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided with a preceptor Onsite pass / fail competency testing for sterile technique (Foley and central line dressing) on first day Holiday time off requests considered but not guaranteed Requirements Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses accepted Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in a cardiac stepdown or telemetry unit Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all current with no pending status) Ability to read and interpret EKG strips Must successfully pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (2 attempts allowed) Two professional references required : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and another peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years Candidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627192.
