Church and School Business Manager - Hephatha Lutheran Church and School

Hephatha Lutheran Church and School is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Business Manager to oversee the financial, administrative, and operational functions of our vibrant ministry. This role is vital in supporting the mission of Hephatha by ensuring that our resources are managed with integrity, transparency, and stewardship. The Business Manager will work closely with the Senior Pastor, School Principal, ECE Director, staff, and ministry leaders to provide strong organizational support that allows our church and school to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
• Financial Management
• Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Prepare and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with church and school leadership.
• Oversee distribution of regular financial reports to the Pastor, Principal, ECE Director, Finance Committee, and Church Council.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Human Resources & Administration • Manage employee records, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and foster a positive, professional workplace culture.
• Facilities & Operations
• Oversee the maintenance, safety, and use of church and school facilities.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and Trustees for repairs, improvements, and events.
• Ensure compliance with safety, licensing, and insurance requirements.
• Support fundraising, tuition management, and donor relations as needed.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, offering insight and solutions for effective ministry operations.
• Oversee our internet and technical support needs for both church and school.
• Attend church council meetings and finance board meetings on a monthly basis.
• Be responsible for the security gates and regularly change the gate codes.
• Oversee and enforce the provisions and policies of the employee handbook.
• Be available for emergency response needs related to facility or operational issues, including after-hours situations if necessary.
• Help facilitate and support the development, implementation, and regular review of a campus-wide safety and security plan, including emergency preparedness procedures.
• Administrative Leadership • Support the pastor, principal, ECE Director, and Council with operational and organizational planning.
• Ensure office operations run smoothly (supplies, technology, communications).
• Serve as a liaison among church leadership, boards, and school administration.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit, church, or school setting.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
