Supervisory Maintenance Position
This is supervisory maintenance work directing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance and repair work performed on equipment, buildings and grounds in the area of specialization. An employee in this class directs the work of a group of subordinate supervisors in the maintenance, construction and / or repair of city properties, systems, and properties. Coordinating maintenance work to achieve the most effective utilization of staff, time, materials, and equipment is a significant aspect of the work. Work may include the supervision of clerical personnel providing support services. The employee may have frequent contact with engineering, operational, maintenance personnel and contractors to plan and prioritize maintenance objectives; and related work as required.
Minimum qualifications : (Promotional) permanent status as a Public Works Supervisor III and one (1) year of experience in that classification. (Original entrance) seven (7) years of full-time verifiable experience in the fields of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical or building repair work; and at least three (3) years of which must have been a supervisory capacity in the area of building maintenance.
Kind of examination : A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years. This is an original entrance and promotional examination.
