Job descriptionConduct research on easements to assess potential locations for fiber installation by Socket Design and develop maps using Socket's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools Review and develop instructions to implement existing designs to our contractors Review new sales quote requests to evaluate feasibility and ensure alignment with company capabilities Apply fiber optic network design principles to support planning and execution Create and interpret construction prints and splicing assignments Process as-built documentation and maintain accurate network records Conduct cost analysis to support efficient network design Maintain regular, reliable attendance 1–2+ years of experience in GIS mapping Demonstrated understanding of telecom infrastructure and fiber optic design Experience with GIS platforms such as 3-GIS, ArcGIS, or QGIS Proficient in Microsoft Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills No degree required; relevant education or certifications preferred Must maintain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record Leadership and ownership mindset Positive working attitude Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Strong collaboration and communication skills Familiarity with creating and reading construction prints Experience processing as-builts and managing splicing documentation Knowledge of the telecommunications industry

Socket is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Network Design Specialist – Tier II to support the design and implementation of fiber optic networks. This role requires strong GIS expertise, a solid understanding of telecom infrastructure, and the ability to take ownership of complex design tasks. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with mapping tools, interpreting technical data, and collaborating across teams to ensure successful project execution.
This is an in office position.
