SawStop is the world leader in power tool safety, and we're looking for an Associate Product Manager to join our new product development team on a full-time basis. Headquartered in Tualatin, Oregon, SawStop is the #1 manufacturer of table saws for the commercial and hobbyist markets, and our safety technology has saved thousands of users from devastating, life-changing table saw injuries. SawStop is expanding our product breadth in the woodworking shop. The successful applicant will contribute to product launches by enthusiastically understanding the voice of customer and helping us solve the toughest woodworking problems.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Associate Product Manager will be a key member of the SawStop Marketing Team responsible for key aspects of the product offering and lifecycle - from the identification of potential opportunities and development of new products to the maintenance of existing ones - in the pursuit of the company's revenue growth strategies while enriching its position as the undisputed leader of safer high-end, high-performance, and high-innovation woodworking tools and accessories.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Product Manager will support the work of product managers by conducting market research, gathering quantitative product data internally and externally on SawStop and competitive products, and analyzing customer research to help the product management team work more efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities of the Associate Product Manager position include but are not limited to :
- Market Research - Works with internal and external resources to gather and prioritize relevant market data including end user desires, use cases, pain points, and preferences, evaluation of the competitive landscape (products and pricing), and overall industry trends
- Materials Development - Work with the marketing team to create and update product documentation, messaging, collaterals, packaging, point of sale, advertising, web content, etc.
- Product Update Management - Responsible for the development, tracking, and successful achievement of product update initiatives.
- Communication - Actively communicate project status, key decision points, results, etc. with relevant stakeholder groups on an ongoing basis
- Collaboration & Leadership - Collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams to drive the development of new products and refinement of existing products; ability to take prompt and decisive action when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
0-5 years product management and marketing experience.BA / BS degree or equivalent work experience in marketing, engineering, business administration or related field.Experience with or recent coursework in market research.Excellent organizational and project management skills.Effective written and oral communication skills - including giving presentations and leading meetings.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; a creative problem solver.Passion for representing the voice of the customer.Collaborative team player who can work well with people in a variety of roles.Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn; seek out development activities to improve skills and increase knowledge.Self-starter who takes initiative; seeks and acts on opportunities to improve the organization's performance.Consistently demonstrates personal integrity and respect for others.Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project Management software.Working knowledge of AI tools and ability to use them to augment research and general productivity.Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM tools and Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence a plus.Woodworking experience a plus.Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes a plus.Power Tool product development experience a plus.Primarily an onsite position with some flexibility to work from home occasionally. Must be able to be on-site at our office at 11555 SW Myslony St, Tualatin, OR 97062 4 days per week.Ability to travel as necessary (up to 10%).BENEFITS
