Sr. Scientist, Preformulation Pharmaceutical Development

Job Summary (Primary function)

The Senior Scientist Preformulation, Pharmaceutical Development provides pre-formulation and formulation support to discovery programs in the pre-clinical phase. This role serves as an interface between Discovery and Pharmaceutical Development.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

• Perform hands-on pre-formulation and formulation development for new small molecules in collaboration with Discovery.
• Characterize the physical and chemical properties of the drug candidate in collaboration with Chemistry.
• Leverage the physical / chemical and pharmacokinetic properties of the drug candidate to develop formulation strategies and options which include required resources to develop a clinical formulation.
• Manufacture lab scale suspensions, granulations, spray-dried dispersions, hot melts, tablets and other formulations utilizing bench-top equipment to support toxicology studies and clinical formulation development.
• Utilize animal models to screen formulations in collaboration with DMPK when appropriate.
• Maintain good documentation for laboratory experiments. Prepare data summaries and reports in collaboration with Discovery.
• Perform analytical testing and / or collaborate with analytical scientist. Analyze and interpret experimental data to form sound conclusions.
