DEFINITION AND DUTIES :
Under direction of the Ambulance Director, the Assistant Director, and / or Field Supervisor, responsible to provide paramedic level patient care in accordance with the ambulance service protocols and under the auspices of the medical control physician or physician designee.
Knowledge of :

High school graduate or equivalent and successful completion of the prescribed course curricula at an approved paramedic program as determined by the Iowa State Bureau of EMS and successful completion of at least 300 hours of classroom instruction, 150 hours of clinical experience, and 150 hours of ambulance / rescue field experience.
Special requirements : Must pass background check. Current EMT-Paramedic certification in the State of Iowa and current ACLS, BLS, PALS provider certifications. As a mandatory reporter, maintain approved training on child and dependent adult abuse reporting requirements. Valid driver's license and insurable under county liability coverage. Safe driving record.
SPECIFIC DUTIES : to be performed satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation

Responds to calls as directed.Transports patients to their respective destination.Performs duties of an EMT-Paramedic as defined in service protocols approved by the Service Program Medical Director.Completes and submits patient care report, billing sheet and other related documentation.Contributes to training of new employees to maintain a high standard of care.Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with County / Department policies, procedures, safety practices and the collective bargaining agreement.Participates in training / professional development activities and work related meetings as requested.Attends work regularly at the designated place and time.Supplemental Description
